Once a veritable island, this former fishing village is located at the entrance to
the estuary of the Pont-L’Abbériver. It is characterized by its widely iodized air and its insularity. To the north, at the edge of Combrit, the water passed freely, forming a lagoon, partly isolating the commune and turning it into an island. Since 1852 this small piece of land has been connected to the
land by the Kermor dam. There are many small stone or white-painted fishermen’s houses on Tudy Island. The edges of flowery windows stretch along the narrow alleys, a testament to the village of the 15th and 16th centuries.
To go around Tudy Island is to breathe the air on the wide east side, enjoy the sandy beaches with family and see in the distance the tip of Sainte-Marine. On the west side, the Estuary of Pont-l’Abbé is a breathtaking natural heritage! Greenery, rare birds, oyster parks, foot fishermen, kayakers share the place while protecting biodiversity.
